IAQ Regulatory Monitoring & Remediation for a Government Building

After public complaints of stuffy air and dizziness during extended visits, a municipal office building required an annual IAQ inspection under the Indoor Air Quality Management Act, along with remediation recommendations ahead of the next regulatory audit.

Challenge

Challenge

The 1990s-era building relied on a central HVAC system without outside-air regulation. CO₂ levels in several public-service areas exceeded the 1,000 ppm statutory limit, and open-plan layouts caused airflow short-circuiting and uneven air quality.

Approach

Our Approach

  1. 01

Measurement of nine indicators (CO₂, CO, HCHO, TVOC, PM2.5, PM10, bacteria, fungi, etc.) per NIEA A715.13C

  2. 02

    Peak-hour sampling at 10:00 / 14:00 / 16:00 to reconstruct daily fluctuation curves

  3. 03

Hot-wire anemometry across each service zone, producing airflow heatmaps

  4. 04

Recommendations: new-air damper rescheduling, periodic window venting, and deployment of real-time IAQ sensors

Outcomes

Outcomes

  • Compliant with the Indoor Air Quality Act
  • CO₂ concentration reduced by 28%
  • Dead-zone remediation recommendations
